Circumstances in our lives can overwhelm us. But take comfort in this thought- God has already saved us from sin and death and Hell! He can certainly save us from our daily trials! Amen! If He has saved you for all eternity why wouldn't He continue to save you now?
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
That part of scripture is so powerful! NOTHING can separate you from God's love! Absolutely NOTHING!!! He is going to get you through the storms, That's a PROMISE! And what you don't understand today you will someday. It will all make sense in the end.
Are we tested to build character? That's probably one reason among many. But does the reason why really matter? God didn't promise to keep the storms away, He did promise to be with us always. Read Psalm 139, "Where can I go from your Spirit?..." the Psalmist asks. Basically, no where! He is everywhere. In the darkest depths of the sea to the dawn of a new day... He is there. There is no pit you can be in that He won't hear your cries. There is no place too terrible for Him to not be able to hear you when you call. God loves you, He is there for you, He will get you through this life's trials.
Rest in the eye of the storm, find the center of God's will. If you are on the path towards God eventually you will find yourself in that eye, that peaceful place, the eye of the storm of your life. Some great winds and rain may have just passed by and torn a few shingles off the proverbial roof, and you may feel a bit battered by the storm, but the eye is coming. The storm will still rage around you but you will find peace. Its coming, just wait...

I was inspired by my Pastor's sermon this week, so much of this blog entry is credited to him. Thanks Pastor Rod.
