Obstacles and Blessings

Sometimes in our lives we come across some amazing obstacle that we could never deal with on our own. An obstacle so large that we are left wondering how we could ever get around it. Its those obstacles that can become blessings in our life. They are opportunities for God to bless us, to show His awesome power. In Luke 1:37 the Bible says, "For nothing is impossible with God."

There are a couple seemingly HUGE obstacles in my loved ones lives these days. The first is a sister-in-law that has been trying to get pregnant for many years and has tried IUI (inter-uterine insemination) a couple times with no success. She has been praying with her husband about this, and I have joined her in her request and petition to God. So far He has chosen not to grant her desire to have a child. But He is able to do so. Sometimes I believe God allows situations to get to a point of such great impossibility so that when He does answer the prayer we have no choice but to praise God for what He has done and give Him all the credit. He also uses these things to bring us closer to Him. I haven't prayed so regularly for years! And my sister-in-law and her husband have never been closer to God in their Christian walk as they are now. So God definitely is using this obstacle as an opportunity to do some great things and to show His mighty work. I have faith and hope that He will give them a child. I just have no idea how or when. Perhaps they will eventually adopt, and I think that will be as valid an answer to prayer as granting them their own biological child. Or perhaps when they finally give up and stop "trying" He will cause her to get pregnant naturally. I do not know how He will do it, or how long He will wait to answer our prayers, but I believe she will one day get the child she has been praying for.

The other family member with a huge obstacle to overcome is my Aunt. She is diabetic and must have passed out while driving down a major road at 50 mph or more. She hit several cars and her car flipped over 5 times! Thankfully she was the only one that suffered any manor trauma, and she was not paralyzed nor did she have any major internal bleeding or problems. She is, however, laying in a hospital bed right now, two weeks later, with a broken neck, broken bones in her face, a couple broken ribs, and part of one of her thumbs is missing. She also got pneumonia while in the hospital. These are all major obstacles. She also needed a tracheotomy done a few days ago because her blood pressure was dropping and she wasn't able to breathe. Thankfully that trach helped her BP stabilize. Needless to say she has a long road of recovery ahead of her. But this major obstacle of broken bones, blood pressure problems, and pneumonia, is not too big for God to handle... Amen! I also believe in this situation He will be able to repair her and restore her to her fully functional former self. She may have some scars to show for it all, but she will be alive! And if God can raise His son from the dead and conquer death and sin He definitely can help my aunt!

I am glad I have such an awesome God to rely on in times of crisis.
